About Me and My Work
Originally from New York, we came to the beautiful Puget Sound area in 2008.
I am currently working as an artist and college art instructor.
I am mostly a painter. I usually work with oils, but I love experimenting with other materials. A few years ago we set up a pottery studio behind the house, so I now also dabble in clay.

I tend to work in series. If you have a look around my website, you'll see bodies of work that include barns, shoes, old cars and trucks, birds, and most recently, flowers. Other series I’ve worked on include specific places like Theler Wetlands Reserve in Belfair and Sinclair Inlet in the fog.

I paint in series because it allows me to explore my subject without limitations.
I am motivated by the challenges I find in each subject.
My questions to myself are always the same:
Can I take the image in my head and translate it in paint onto a canvas?
Can I capture the nuances of color, of light and shadow?
And most of all- can I give it a life outside of just “paint on canvas”?

I work in oil paint on canvas or wood panel. I love the buttery feel of the paints on a very smooth surface. I love the smell of the paints and mediums (but I always open a window. Some of that stuff is just plain toxic!).

My ceramic work is all created using hand-building techniques. I work with low-fire clay and glazes. All of my pieces are food safe.
All painting images are available for sale as Giclee Fine Art Prints, even those marked "sold". (See the Shop page.)
You can reach me here through the contact page.
I am always happy to answer inquiries about my art.
